I visited the Paesenatio cemeter yesterday, as I usually do in this time of the year.
I love wandering round the silent, quiet streets among the graves, especially with my mother explaining me a bit of the City History… bits of anectodes, funny stories, sad stories… a bit like “Spoon River Anthology”.

Yesterday I was even more happy because dear husband was there with me, so I was able to tell him some stories I loved to hear…
and I had the chance to introduce him to the “dead girl” – a tombstone of a girl died in 1915 at the age of 4, falling on the stairs at school.
Family Photographs were not so common in that years, so her parents had to shoot a picture of her as a corpse.

I’ve been visiting her for 32 years… first I was somewhat scared, then fascinated, then it became sort of a family friend to me.
Yesterday, I motherly caressed her picture.

Times change!
